Client context
Bank of China is one of the oldest and largest banks in mainland China, with a UK subsidiary providing retail and commercial services. Bank of China UK was preparing to adopt standardised technology solutions being rolled out by head office to all overseas branches.
The business problem
The new global solutions were designed for front office efficiency, but had limited provision for UK-specific regulatory and management reporting. Other overseas banks had implemented similar systems and then failed to meet local reporting requirements, resulting in significant fines. Bank of China UK needed to deploy the new solutions while maintaining compliance with Bank of England and FSA requirements.
What we did
Red Olive designed and delivered an information management layer that gathered data from the new front office solutions and consolidated it to meet existing reporting needs. We mapped information requirements, assessed future reporting needs, recommended a suitable ETL tool, and implemented the solution using our agile data warehouse delivery methodology.
The results
The information management layer provides a flexible foundation that can adapt as reporting requirements evolve, protecting Bank of China UK’s ability to meet regulatory obligations while benefiting from the group’s global systems.
Looking ahead
