Client context
Admiral is a multinational financial services company and one of the biggest players in the UK for household and motor insurance. It collects millions of data points daily and is working towards becoming an intelligent insurer, using data to improve efficiencies, customer service and regulatory compliance.
The business problem
Admiral needed to move from legacy systems to the cloud to gain competitive advantage. The transition involved significant change across its analytics estate and claims process. With a substantial existing investment in WhereScape for its data warehouse, the company needed a partner who understood both the platform and the insurance sector.
What we did
Red Olive supported Admiral in three key areas: building the cloud platform for claims, providing ways to measure the new process at scale with consistent data; achieving a first in Europe by replicating modelled warehouse logic from WhereScape into the cloud; and supporting compliance reporting for IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts.
Red Olive’s unique combination of WhereScape expertise, insurance industry knowledge and cloud experience made it the ideal partner for this project.
The results
Admiral now has a stable, reliable and well-governed data warehouse and data lake that improves all aspects of the business. The cloud migration enables faster reporting, better regulatory compliance, and a clear competitive advantage through more efficient use of its data.
Red Olive has been instrumental in the success of this ongoing project. Mark had all the right experience and knowledge and was able to challenge us and offer advice as well as have the practical skills to get things done.Toby Warren,
Looking ahead
With the claims data now on the cloud platform, Admiral is extending the work to other areas of the business, using its investment in WhereScape alongside the new cloud capability to drive further commercial efficiency.
